St. Elmo is Tennessee’s largest historic district and has several properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In the shadow of Lookout Mountain, with convenient access to employers, medical care, and more, the quaint neighborhood of St. Elmo is one of the most popular communities for young professionals, families, and retirees.

Real Estate: Designated as a Historic District, St. Elmo offers beautiful Queen Anne, Craftsman, and bungalow style homes, many over 100 years old. New construction homes are also available in styles that match the history and charm of the neighborhood.

Top Employers: St. Elmo is home to Chattem, Inc., a Sanofi Company, that manufactures well-known brands such as  Allegra®, GoldBond®, and IcyHot®. Residents can access top employers downtown and Enterprise South by hopping on I-24 for a short drive. St. Elmo also supports many small businesses in the neighborhood.

Transportation: Located a short drive from downtown Chattanooga and  major interstates, including  I-24 and I-75, St. Elmo residents have easy access to the downtown area, the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport, and  surrounding cities such as Atlanta, Knoxville, Nashville, and Birmingham. The Tennessee Riverwalk was just extended to St. Elmo, offering bikers an environmentally friendly commute downtown. 

Education: Nearby public schools include Donaldson Elementary and Lookout Valley Elementary, Lookout Valley Middle/High School, Orchard Knob Middle School, and Howard School of Academics and Technology. East Lake Academy of Fine Arts is a magnet school for middle school students. Among private schools nearby, Chattanooga Christian School is on the edge of the neighborhood. Others are just a short drive away. 

Health and Wellness: St. Elmo residents have quick and easy access to large and expansive health care facilities operated by Erlanger Health System, CHI Memorial, and Parkridge Health System.
