Did You Know?

Poe’s Tavern, Hamilton County’s first courthouse and government seat, was located in Soddy-Daisy. Built in 1819, it was the home of Soddy-Daisy resident Hasten Poe and served as a way station for 1,900 Cherokees traveling the Trail of Tears.

TRANSPORTATION:

For Soddy-Daisy residents, Highway 27 or Hixson Pike can be used to easily reach downtown Chattanooga. These thoroughfares also connect to Highway 153 and interstates that lead to the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport and major cities such as Nashville, Atlanta, Birmingham, and Knoxville. 

 

 

EDUCATION:

Tennessee’s first environmentally themed public school, Ivy Academy, calls Soddy-Daisy home and serves students grades 6-12. Younger students are zoned for Allen Elementary, Soddy Elementary, and Daisy Elementary, while older students attend Soddy Daisy middle and high schools and Sequoyah High, where vocational courses are included in the curriculum.

 

 

HEALTH AND WELLNESS:

Roughly 20 minutes away, CHI Memorial – Hixson provides residents with an emergency department, imaging center, cardiac care and rehabilitation, orthopedic care, and more, while Erlanger North offers 24/7 emergency care along with a number of other medical services. Nearby Hixson is recognized for several senior care facilities, including Life Care Center of Hixson, Morning Pointe of Hixson, The Lantern at Morning Pointe, Dominion Senior Living of Hixson, and Brookdale Senior Living.
