2018 // NorthShore

Did You Know?

Erected in 1891, the iconic Walnut Street Bridge was close to being demolished in the 1980s – the city simply lacked the funding. Chattanooga’s “Walking Bridge” gained new life upon restoration in 1993 and is now a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.

The eclectic NorthShore is among the most desirable communities in Chattanooga. With its single-family homes and townhomes, health food stores and small, independent businesses, NorthShore is a great fit for any lifestyle.

Real Estate: The NorthShore area is characterized by charming bungalows,  craftsman-style homes, and sophisticated condos.  With stunning views of the river, condos such as One North Shore, Bridgeview, and The Terrace at Frazier Place are popular living spaces among professionals of all ages. Other available condo options include The Pinnacle and River Point. Family-friendly neighborhoods can be found in the Normal Park area, including North Shore Heights, a development that features environmentally friendly craftsman- and Tudor-style homes.

Top Employers: Many of the area’s top employers are a short commute from the NorthShore. Among them are BlueCross BlueShield, Tennessee Valley Authority, UNUM, EPB, Cigna Health Insurance, Kenco Group, Southern Champion Tray, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Chattanooga State Community College, and city and county governments.

Transportation: The Market Street Bridge connects City Center to NorthShore, allowing for easy access to downtown via car or bike. Adjacent to Highway 27 and within blocks of Interstates 24 and 75, NorthShore is in an excellent location for reaching the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport, Atlanta, Nashville, Birmingham, and Knoxville.

Education: Depending on the address, NorthShore students attend Rivermont, Normal Park, or Red Bank elementary schools. Older students are zoned for Red Bank Middle or Normal Park, and Red Bank High School. Normal Park, Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, and Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts are magnet schools in the area. Also close by are a number of top private schools, including Girls Preparatory School, Notre Dame High School, St. Jude School, St. Peter’s Episcopal School, The Bright School, Baylor School, and McCallie School.

Health and Wellness: In addition to top hospitals CHI Memorial, Erlanger, and Parkridge, NorthShore residents can take advantage of nearby dental care and pharmacies. The Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation, HealthSouth Chattanooga Rehabilitation Hospital, and Kindred Hospital are within minutes of NorthShore.
