The Chattanooga Choo Choo, a Chattanooga icon since 1906, houses music and comedy venues, Songbirds Guitar Museum, highly rated restaurants, and more. Centered around the Choo Choo is Southside’s Station Street, a popular entertainment and nightlife destination. Southside residents are only a bike ride away from the Tennessee Aquarium, Tivoli Theatre, Hunter Museum of American Art, Creative Discovery Museum, and the IMAX 3D Theater.
Each December, Mainx24, a 24-hour block party, celebrates the vibrant Southside district. In the spring, the Chattanooga Film Festival delights movie critics and audiences alike. During the summer, free concerts are enjoyed nearby at the Nightfall Concert Series in Miller Plaza and Riverfront Nights on the waterfront. The TenGIG Festival, the largest three-day gaming festival in the Southeast, is the newest event to call Southside home.
Warehouse Row features local boutiques mixed with national retailers, upscale salons, fitness centers, and dining options. Residents can also enjoy seasonal produce, artisan foods, and arts and crafts at the Chattanooga Market. Meanwhile, the Main Street Farmers Market, located at the corner of Main and Chestnut, supplies residents with family-farmed, high-quality meats, cheeses, vegetables, and prepared foods.
Residents of the Southside can enjoy relaxed bars and bistros, or opt for a fine dining experience. Local bakeries, creperies, and chocolatiers offer delectable desserts perfect for sharing with a friend.
Finley Stadium’s Davenport Field hosts the UTC football team, UTC women’s soccer team, and Chattanooga Football Club, among other teams. Offering ramps, rails, and an in-line hockey rink, the lighted Chattown Skate Park caters to visitors with BMX bikes and skateboards.
As the largest sculpture park in the Southeast, Sculpture Fields at Montague Park offers 33 acres of sculptures from all over the world. At Main Terrain Art Park, residents can enjoy interactive art pieces that double as fitness alternatives. Several art galleries are also located in the Southside neighborhood.
