Did You Know?

As short as 50 years ago, the East Brainerd community was largely comprised of sprawling farmland. In place of today’s shopping centers and chain restaurants, visitors to the area would discover cow and horse pastures, chicken houses, and rows of crops, including corn.

Providing diverse housing options, plentiful amenities, and easy access to sought-after schools and employers, East Brainerd is a popular community for professionals and families. 

Real Estate

Featuring single-family homes, townhomes, and condominiums, East Brainerd meets the needs of many tastes and budgets. Neighborhoods boast everything from starter homes to sprawling, upscale residences. Communities include Inverness, Mountain Shadows, Lakes of Standifer Gap, Council Fire, Emerald Valley, Brock Pointe, The Gardens at Heritage Green, Belleau Ridge, Holland Gardens, Brookside Commons, Ashley Mills, Rosebrook, Reunion, Shadow Ridge, and Twin Brook. New developments, such as Engel Park, are slated for 2019.

Top Employers

Top employers are located in and around the East Brainerd area. The Enterprise South Industrial Park contains Volkswagen’s North American assembly plant and an Amazon distribution facility. Additional park tenants include Gestamp, Plastic Omnium, and ADM. Wrigley Manufacturing Company, Schnellecke Logistics, CBL & Associates, U.S. Xpress, Astec Industries, Cigna, and a T-Mobile call center are near residents as well.


Downtown Chattanooga and the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport are a short drive away. I-75 provides easy access to Atlanta and Knoxville, while I-24 provides access to Nashville and I-59, which leads to Birmingham.


Public schools include East Brainerd Elementary, Westview Elementary, Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts (a K-8 magnet school), and East Hamilton Middle/High School. Students may also attend private institutions – among them are Grace Baptist Academy, Silverdale Baptist Academy, St. Nicholas School, and Standifer Gap SDA School.

Health and Wellness

Numerous medical and wellness facilities are available on Gunbarrel and East Brainerd roads, the main thoroughfares for this area. The full-service Erlanger East Hospital, having completed its $50 million expansion, offers surgical, emergency, heart, stroke, cancer, and pediatrics care. Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation’s Therapy Services provides rehabilitative therapy at its East Brainerd location. Also close by are Parkridge East Hospital and two campuses of Parkridge Valley. Quality senior care facilities include Morning Pointe of Chattanooga and The Lantern at Morning Pointe Chattanooga. Morning Pointe of East Hamilton opens fall 2019.
